In The Two Faces of China, René Burri draws from his extensive travels throughout this vast land to show how Chinese Communism has reconciled - or perhaps not - the traditional pull of family and the individual against the collective values of the modern Marxist state. Almost at the point Burri had finished filming, China was swept up in Chairman Mao's Cultural Revolution.
