“We have to have this debate, because when we do, we win the argument.” - filmmaker Daniel Leconte

Muhammad overwhelmed by fundamentalists' was the title on the front page, followed by a cartoon of a weeping Prophet Muhammad with a speech bubble saying “It's hard being loved by jerks”. This issue of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo sold over twice as many copies as usual and stirred up a religious debate that went straight to the courtroom.

In support of the Danish magazine Jyllands-Posten, which received death threats after originally printing the cartoons a year earlier, Charlie Hebdo printed its own caricatures, resulting in three Islamic groups bringing a lawsuit against the magazine. Daniel Leconte's documentary follows the lead up to and outcome of the trial, and firmly plants itself on one side of the argument.
