Since the Chinese occupied independent Tibet in 1950, more than one million people have been tortured, executed or starved to death for their role in the demonstrations against Chinese occupation.

Tibetan Buddhist nuns have taken the lead in this resistance by fearlessly staging courageous demonstrations for independence and have been brutally treated by Chinese authorities for their role in criticising the Chinese state.

Satya is a gentle film which slowly delivers personal testimonies of these Tibetan nuns. It provides an inspiring inside view into their non-violent actions in a style which oozes with feminine strength.
