The racial powder keg of Boston was on the brink of all-out street war. James Brown, the ‘Godfather of Soul', was to perform live and public officials feared the worst. Boston's African-American community could view cancelling of the concert as a call-to-arms; instead, Boston's mayor asked Brown to allow his concert to be televised. He did, and showed the power of music to bring peace in the midst of chaos.
