This is a fascinating documentary about Alfred Hitchcock, made for Italian television. Some interviews deal with Hitchcock's intellectual approach to the creative process, but more revealing and intriguing are those covering his relationship with actors (and especially actresses) and his methods of directing that paint a complete picture of his personality: his neuroses, his complexes and his sexual phobias. The Thrill Of Genius is a journey that balances a critical ob|ectivity with a love of his work, and steers a proper course between the old cult prejudices and the more obsessive eulogies.
