A few brief moments is all Lehmann needs to evoke a sense of longing. The story of the break-up of a long distance relationship is told in the form of 1950s didactic films, Wendy Hughes' narration of instructions to the letter-writer counterpoints the love story as it unfolds in a sequence of pixillated images of postcards. Lehmann's depiction of the relationship between narration and reading is rigorous and ironic.
