Winner of two prizes at the 2002 Berlin Film Festival (including the Teddy for Best Feature) and also selected for the Hong Kong Film Festival, Walking on Water is a refreshingly unsentimental, and even surprisingly humourous, film about people dealing with loss and grief.

Charlie (Vince Colosimo) and Anna (Maria Theodorakis) are Gavin's two best friends. They made a pact to assist the terminally ill Gavin to die when the time came. Despite a massive overdose of morphine, Gavin hangs on. When the dust settles, the death was hardly the dignified ending they had planned.

This tragedy is the beginning of an emotional rollercoaster ride that takes Charlie and Anna through the highs and lows of the grief experience - from illicit affairs and leftover morphine to devastating accusations and unwitting betrayals. At the end of the day, Charlie and Anna are forced to face the true meaning of friendship, loyalty and love.

"Cleverly wrought as Ayres' muted tones shroud shattered lives. When Colosimo and Theodorakis finally confront each other, the previous episodes crystallise into a moving whole." - Adelaide Advertiser
