"What distinguishes the film most … is its wit, both verbal and visual, so that it is simultaneously illuminating and funny." – Time Out London

It's May 1962, and with the end of the Algerian war, France is at peace for the first time in seven years. Filmmaker Chris Marker takes to the streets to ask Parisians one simple question: how are they feeling? The question may be simple but the answers are not, and they unearth a city of discontent and loneliness.

Le Joli Mai went on to win major prizes at both the Venice and the Cannes film festivals, and is considered by many to be one of Marker's greatest works. It has been unavailable for many years but has now been completed for its 50th anniversary in line with the late director's wishes, and restored under the supervision of his cinematographer and co-director Pierre Lhomme.

Features a voiceover by Simone Signoret.
