Pink makes her acting debut alongside Mark Ruffalo, Tim Robbins and Gwyneth Paltrow in this feel-good film about sex addiction.

After penning The Kids Are All Right (MIFF 2010), Stuart Blumberg turns his hand to directing with this ambitious ensemble seriocomedy that tackles similar themes to Steve McQueen’s recent Shame in a far more upbeat manner.

Mark Ruffalo plays Adam, a five-years sober sex addict whose resolve is tested when he meets Gwyneth Paltrow’s Phoebe, a cancer survivor fresh out of a relationship with an alcoholic. Adam seeks support from his addicts’ group sponsor Mike (Tim Robbins), who’s having his own issues dealing with his drug-addicted son. Both their stories adroitly intersect with that of new group member Neil (Josh Gad), an ER doctor whose path to sobriety comes via his platonic friendship with Dede, played by Pink.

Executive produced by Edward Norton, Thanks for Sharing takes Blumberg’s penchant for witty dialogue and seamlessly meshes it with luminous cinematography and his actors’ endearingly affable chemistry. The end result is an uplifting look at a still controversial issue.

"A new millennium Billy Wilder in the sense that it so effortlessly and captivatingly makes you laugh and cry – occasionally at the same time." – Sound on Sight
