In a Midwestern town fallen on hard times, the small and uneventful lives of two local doll factory workers are played out in understated realism when a new arrival reveals an unlikely love triangle. Bubble, the first of six low-budget films from director Steven Soderbergh, uncovers the ordinary travails of the everyday of the factory workers, each existing in a place with no opportunity and no feeling.

Bubble explores the change in dynamic caused by the spark of an outsider; a spark that is extinguished as quickly as it appeared after a senseless murder. Quiet thoughts and unrealised feelings are the centerpiece as the nuances of daily life unravel in the formica and fluorescence of the doll factory's lunchroom. Formalistic, sonically extra-ordinary and about as far from the Hollywood studio as you could hope.
