“Leave it to the rabble-rousing instincts of Brian De Palma to drop a homemade bomb into the middle of the Iraq debate.” - Toronto International Film Festival

Filmmaker Brian De Palma is on a quest to make us reconsider the imagery through which we are exposed to events in the world. Employing the tactics of guerrilla filmmaking - a pared-back crew working with digital video - De Palma has created a fictional documentary informed by the YouTube age.

Based on actual events surrounding the rape and killing of Iraqi civilians by US troops during early 2006, Redacted's narrative is pieced together from fictional video diaries, security camera tapes, TV channel footage, blogs and websites, ultimately showing how supposedly objective footage can be repackaged to fit whatever story is being sold.
