Newsreels from the 50s and 60s bring Soviet propaganda to life.

Following on from his 2005 film Blockade, director Sergei Loznitsa unearths another collection of newsreels from the Soviet Union, this time from the 50s and 60s, to allow a glimpse into a side of the Cold War not often seen in the West. Uncovering the forgotten past of the USSR, Revue shows the propaganda films that sold a brave fantasy of communism to the Eastern Bloc masses.

Exploring the lives of the citizens of the Soviet motherland, Revue shows the hardworking, honest and deprived people whose many lives are illuminated by the glorious illusion of communism. A fascinating glimpse of the power of propaganda.
