"Forgiveness is being aware of the suffering of others" - filmmaker Mia Hansen-Løve

The feature debut from Mia Hansen-Løve (former critic for Cahiers du Cinéma and actress in the films of Olivier Assayas, Les Destinées Sentimentales and Late August, Early October) gives us a series of snap-shots in the life of a family that is slowly falling apart. Drug-addled and abusive, an adulterous failed writer shatters the lives of his wife and six-year-old daughter, eventually forcing them to leave him. A little girl is left without her father, and in his place only emotional scars remain.

When the father returns over a decade later, his daughter - now a teenager - is given the chance to get to know her missing father, and perhaps even to forgive him.

Multiple award winner including a 2007 Prix Louis Delluc award for Best First Film.
