“Art for me is a path and not a destination.” - theatre director Peter Sellars

Filming over two years, Mark Kidel travels a rocky artistic road with one of the world's most controversial theatre directors, Peter Sellars. Focusing on his curatorial duties for the New Crowned Hope Festival in 2006, Kidel reveals the method behind Sellars's ‘madness' through in-depth interviews and glimpses into the rehearsal room.

Kidel's doco also reflects on recurring themes in Sellars's oeuvre, from an adolescent fascination with puppetry and avant-garde theatre, to his explosive emergence as a super-talent enfant terrible, to his more recent works combining politics, poetry and spirituality.

“Sellars emerges as a singular, deeply serious, humble (and sometimes humbug) artist whose capacity for astonishment remains undimmed.” - San Francisco Chronicle
