A film co-helmed by Amy Ziering Kofman and Kirby Dick, the notorious director of Sick: The Life and Death of Bob Flanagan, Supermasochist (MIFF 1997). The filmmakers resisted creating a linear biography and opted for a collage of what they term 'paragraphs'. Interviews, observational camera coverage, snatches from lectures and media engagements, dinner conversation and humorous musings running between meetings combine to provide a background to this titan philosopher's busy life, pioneering work and energetic personality. Kirby Dick (born in Arizona, 1952) studied at the American Film Institute. His documentaries include Private Practices: The Story of a Sex Surrogate (1986) and Chain Camera (2000). Derrida is producer-director Amy Ziering Kofman's debut.
