Accompanying the feature-length film Notes on Blindness, screening at MIFF 2016, is this VR companion piece that uses real-time 3D animation and binaural audio to immerse viewers into Melbourne academic John Hull's emotional, sensory and psychological journey as he loses his sight.

MIFF presents the first chapter of Notes on Blindness: Into Darkness, based on Hull's audio diaries, which takes us through the confusion and despair, then inspiration and epiphany that Hull experiences as he adapts to his new reality. Driven by audio as much as its visual elements, the Into Darkness experience is enhanced by the VR gear, ensuring you are aware of but unable to see the outside world as Hull himself was, and ultimately bringing that exterior world into greater clarity.
