In advance of the highly anticipated second series premiere on ABC TV, MIFF offers an exclusive preview of the first two episodes.

Glitch introduced audiences to country cop James Hayes (Patrick Brammall), a sergeant in the fictional Victorian town of Yoorana where, one night, seven dead residents crawled out of their graves, in perfect health, bar their memories. But things turned deeply personal when James recognised one of them as his deceased wife, Kate (Emma Booth). Glitch is an epic paranormal saga about love, loss, what it means to be human, and the dark secrets that lie beneath our country’s history.

Series one became an international hit and picked up several major awards – including the 2016 AACTA Award for Best Television Drama and the Logie Award for Most Outstanding Drama Series.

As the Risen continue to unravel the mystery and answer the questions of how and why they are back, their journey of reconciliation and revenge is soon disrupted by a new lethal threat.

Returning cast Patrick Brammall, Genevieve O’Reilly, Emma Booth, Emily Barclay, Sean Keenan, Ned Dennehy, Hannah Monson, Aaron McGrath and Rodger Corser are joined by Rob Collins (Cleverman), Luke Arnold (Black Sails) and award-winning Swedish actor Pernilla August (Call Girl, MIFF 2013).

Commissioned by ABC TV and co-produced by Netflix. Produced by Julie Eckersley for Matchbox Pictures and Executive Produced and Created by Tony Ayres and Louise Fox, Glitch was shot in Victoria under the direction of Emma Freeman (Glitch season 1; Secret City; Puberty Blues) and Tony Krawitz (Dead Europe, MIFF 2012; The Kettering Incident).

Glitch is a Matchbox Pictures Production for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Filmed and produced in Victoria, Australia with the assistance of Film Victoria.

Co-creators Louise Fox and Tony Ayres, Director Emma Freeman and cast (including Rob Collins, Emily Barclay and Hannah Monson – unfortunately, due to weather conditions in Sydney affecting flights, Rodger Corser will no longer be able to join us) will introduce the screening and take part in a post-screening Q&A.
