In her late forties, Morgana Muses was an unhappy housewife in Albury. By 50, she was a feminist pornography icon. It has been quite the ride, with Melbourne filmmakers Isabel Peppard and Josie Hess journeying from rural Victoria to Berlin’s BDSM scene to tell this unique and empowering story.

When she swapped drab domesticity for erotic filmmaking, Morgana embodied the idea that you’re never too old to start anew. Her reinvention started with a rendezvous with a male escort, then evolved into a thriving career as a sex-positive, age-positive, trailblazing pornographer.

In a documentary as lively as its subject, co-directors Peppard (short film Butterflies, MIFF 2012) and Hess celebrate Morgana’s late-in-life calling, and the intimacy and community she found along the way – as well as her incisive ability to dismantle stereotypes, and the catharsis she discovered by forging her own unconventional path.
