The Story of Lee Ping

Jillian Nguyen (Loveland, Hungry Ghosts) and Mark Coles Smith (Last Cab to Darwin) star as a Chinese erotic dancer and an Aboriginal farmhand in this 1920s period drama.

The Story of Lee Ping recounts the unlikely bond that enables the title character to escape the clutches of her white employer (played by Bad Boy Bubby’s Nicholas Hope). Adapted from Courtney Collins’ novel The Burial by John Collee (Master and Commander, Hotel Mumbai), this sumptuous production transports viewers to a lesser-known chapter of Australia’s past and paints a picture of two outcasts coming together to oppose a common enemy.
