Meet MIFF Ambassador Aaron Pedersen
Aaron Pedersen’s career began in 1994 on the television miniseries Heartland. He then proceeded to star in the television series Wildside, Water Rats, MDA, Secret Life of Us, The Circuit, City Homicide and Jack Irish. In 2013, Aaron was cast as the lead for the feature film Mystery Road; he reprised his role as Detective Jay Swan in the film’s 2016 sequel, Goldstone, as well as the award-winning Mystery Road TV series produced for the ABC. He was nominated for Best Lead Actor in a Television Drama at the 2018 AACTA Awards, and for the Most Outstanding Actor and Most Popular Actor awards at the 2019 TV Week Logies.
Aaron’s other feature-film credits include 2016’s Killing Ground and 2017’s 1%. He spent 2019 shooting two features, Dirt Music and High Ground, and another two television series, Total Control and the Stan / Disney ABC Studios international miniseries The Gloaming. This year has seen Aaron complete the German feature film Barfuß durch Australien and two documentary series for the ABC, while production on the latest instalment of Jack Irish will begin in September.
Aaron is a proud descendant of the Arrernte and Arabana nations.
