“Any stragglers still unconvinced that animation can be an exciting medium for both adults and kids alike will run out of arguments in the face of Persepolis.” - Variety

An engaging animated tale of an eight-year-old girl whose life is upturned during Iran's Islamic revolution. Adapted by co-director Marjane Satrapi from her own best-selling graphic novel about her experiences growing up in Iran, Persepolis sees Satrapi's appealing black & white drawings come alive on the big screen.

Persepolis features the vocal talents of Catherine Deneuve and Chiara Mastroianni (both also starring in A Christmas Tale at MIFF this year), and won the Jury prize at last year's Cannes film festival.

“A testament to the endurance of individuality during great political and fanatical upheaval, and a reminder that even the most complex situations, identities and stories are heartbreakingly simple.” - LA Times
