Born from the belly of the Himalayas, India has been nurtured by two great rivers which have their source in them: the Ganges and the Brahmaputra. The course of either leads through Eastern India, the cradle of its civilization, the heart of its culture. This film takes a journey of glimpses, from Nagaland in the North East through Assam and Bihar to West Bengal: glimpses of cities, peoples, religions, seats of learning, folk forms—and floods.
