Twenty-three thousand Japanese migrated to Canada at the turn of the century Many of them fought alongside the Canadians during the first World War, they were a source of cheap labour, they ran peripheral, small businesses, they eked out a living in a hostile environment This documentary reconstructs their immigration, and tells of their fate during World War II, when the Japanese were interned, their properties confiscated and auctioned off.
