“Both winsome and sophisticated, Chicken with Plums unfolds like a rich Persian carpet woven of memories and nostalgia in a colourful fantasy Iran of 1958.” - Hollywood Reporter

Celebrated Tehran-based violinist Nasser Ali Khan (Mathieu Amalric) is so sad he has decided to die. His long-lost love failed to recognise him in the street and his beloved Stradivarius is broken and cannot be replaced, so he takes to his bed and waits for Azrael, the Angel of Death, to visit. As he waits, he recounts the amazing tale of his life, and why that violin means so much to him.

Co-directed by Marjane Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud (Persepolis, MIFF 07) and based on another of Satrapi's award-winning graphic novels, Chicken with Plums combines live action and animation in a film saturated with colour and fantasy, and full of whimsy and life despite its melancholic premise.

Winner of the Black Pearl Award for Best Narrative at the 2011 Abu Dhabi Film Festival.

“The same winning balance of seriousness and humour that made Persepolis such a hit.” - Variety
