"A heartfelt, naturalistic period drama." – Hollywood Reporter

In 1950s upstate New York, the prospects are limited for a teenage girl. But when the unassuming Maddy becomes involved with the girl gang Foxfire she's exposed to a new and exciting proto-feminist world. The leader of the gang, Legs, and her comrades Goldie and Rita have traded subservience for rebellion and retribution.

A gritty exploration of 1950s patriarchal culture, Foxfire is based on Joyce Carol Oates' novel of the same name and is the latest film by director Laurent Cantet, who won the Palme d'Or in 2008 for his film The Class. The kinetic camera work and use of music to evoke the retro thrills of mid-century youth parallel the bombastic girl gang and their era-challenging philosophies.

"Raven Adamson, who plays the charismatic and rebellious leader of the gang, Legs, is certainly a find." – Cineuropa
