"A taut, teasing study of loneliness, alienation and the dangerous lure of fantasy." – Variety

When three boys stumble across the body of a fellow student, whose death is swiftly ruled a suicide, they suspect something more sinister. The boys start their own investigation into her history, blaming bullying and plotting revenge – with chilling repercussions.

In a dramatic departure from his MIFF 2013-screened Touch of the Light (Taiwan's entry for the Best Foreign Language Oscar at the 85th Academy Awards), director Chang Jung-chi dissects the complicated teenage psyche in a thriller fuelled by angst, restlessness, and the desperation to fit in. With finessed performances from the young cast, the grimly atmospheric Partners in Crime delves into a dangerous world where real connections are fleeting, social media reigns and gossip can easily – and willingly – be mistaken for the truth.

MIFF recommends ages 15+
