“I never thought in my worst nightmares that 14 years later I'd feel compelled to track down His Big White Self.” - filmmaker Nick Broomfield Nick Broomfield's 1991 documentary, The Leader, His Driver and the Driver's Wife, made during the final days of apartheid, focused on South African White supremacist leader Eugene Terreblanche, his driver JP - a one-eyed follower - and JP's equally compliant wife, Anita. The film was so effective that it outraged the trio and left Broomfield a victim of numerous violent death threats. Fourteen years later, Broomfield tracks down Terreblanche, JP and Anita and finds three people separated in belief and regret, and the once ‘great' leader now a powerless old man in a landscape far removed from its dangerous past.
