The Forerunner

Australia, 1957 (MIFF 1958, Programme 15)

Director: John Heyer

A film on the theme of Australia's water problem and its solution in one part of Australia. The first section shows the tragedy of too much water and the devastation of floods. The second section deals with drought, the loss of stock and the abandonment of property due to too little water. The third part deals with the background to what might be the forerunner to a solution to these twin problems &ndash: the Snowy Mountains Scheme.
