The 1979 festival program, Rado's last as official Festival Director, featured a retrospective titled Missed Masterpieces. Films included features from Bresson and Visconti, Peau d'âne (Jacques Demy), A Story of Floating Weeds (Yasujiro Ozu) and Uccellacci e uccellini (Pier Paolo Pasolini).
