For a long time regarded as evidence of Holywood's communist conspiracy, Lillian Hellman`s film was drastically recut for its 195? American television release (as Armored Attack). and not reissued in its original form until 1976, The story is that of a Russian border village invaded by the Nazis, and how the members of the community make their individual stands against the enemy. Photography by James Wong Howe, music by Aaron Copland, and moving performances from all the cast.
