JOHN HUSTON - WAR STORIES

UK, 1998 (MIFF 1999, Documentaries)

Director: Midge MacKenzie

A personal memoir recounting the outstanding yet virtually unknown and unseen documentaries that Hollywood veteran John Huston shot during World War II. This film is the result of the dedication of filmmaker Midge Mackenzie who brings to light this shadowy chapter of Huston's career. John Huston—War Stories combines extensive archival footage and an interview-conducted by Mackenzie and Richard Leacock, himself a combat cameraman during the war—with Huston in the early 80s, a few years prior to his death.
