"Life can be comic, can be sexy, can be everything at the same time. So I will make a picture, but I will not say what you need to feel. You will feel whatever you're feeling." - Alejandro Jodorowsky

After a 23-year filmmaking hiatus, Alejandro Jodorowsky returns with this audacious, highly personal film that shows the octogenarian has lost none of his flair for trippy psychedelia.

The film tells the story of the young Alejandro as he comes of age in the shadow of his doting mother and domineering father (played by Jodorowsky's son Brontis), and is the parade of absurd, aberrant vignettes you would expect from the director of El Topo and The Holy Mountain. Tying them together are Jodorowsky's mystic, magic realist musings and an autobiographical pathos that is heightened by his own family's involvement in the film.

"A triumphant return, which mixes autobiography, politics, torture and fantasy to exuberant, moving effect." – The Guardian
