The winner of the 2023 Cannes Short Film Palme d’Or is a colourful orgy of ennui and desire.

At 27 years old, Alice has found herself living back at home with her family, where her erotic daydreams are literally interrupted by her little brother barging into her bedroom. After attending a rooftop party to shake it all off, she crashes her bike on the way home and is forced to confront the reality of her life.

Following Entropia (MIFF 2019), which won the Berlinale’s Teddy Award, 27 sees Hungarian director Flóra Anna Buda’s painterly and transgressive animation style unfurl in a painfully relatable story of adulthood adjourned.
