An ailing jazz legend passes the torch to a blind piano prodigy in this award-winning ode to the bonds of music and friendship.

Clark Terry played trumpet alongside all-time greats Duke Ellington and Count Basie, broke the race barrier as part of NBC's Tonight Show band, and went on to mentor music icons Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock and Quincy Jones. His new, blind protégé, Justin Kauflin, yearns to follow in the nonagenarian's footsteps, but Terry's faltering sight means the two might soon share more than talent.

This touching and inspirational documentary scored Australian director Alan Hicks the Best New Documentary Director Award at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival, as well as the Audience Award for Documentary. Produced by Paula DuPré Pesmen (The Cove, MIFF 09; Chasing Ice, MIFF 12), Keep On Keepin' On is an intimate portrait of a unique friendship.
