TEENAGE PAPARAZZO

USA, 2010 (MIFF 2010, Documentaries)

Director: Adrian Grenier

“Exquisitely layered, Teenage Paparazzo moves beyond personal documentary, charting a cultural revolution of celebrity obsession.” - Sundance Film Festival

At an age when most kids are in the classroom, 13-year-old Austin Visschedyk is earning an adult paycheck by elbowing away men three times his age and capturing elusive photographs of the most famous people in the world. When Adrian Grenier - star of Entourage - spotted Visschedyk amidst a paparazzi scrum trying to steal a shot of him, he saw a story too good to pass up.

With Teenage Paparazzo, Grenier follows Visschedyk into the world of professional celebrity stalking, charting the cell-phone tips and nightclub stakeouts that are the bread and butter of the trade. Turning the camera on the paparazzi, Grenier's entertaining doco reflects on our fame-obsessed culture.
