This film is about the history and politics of urban renewal in Australia Specifically, it is about the people of the inner-Sydney suburb of Waterloo and their nine-year battle to prevent theirsuburb being demolished for redevelopment by state housing authorities The Waterloo story is told in the context of a 50-year struggle by workers demanding rights to low-cost housing, a struggle which began with the Unemployed Workers' Movement in the 1930s and continues with the Green Bans and urban action groups of the 1970s and 1980s.
