Based in the Melbourne CBD, MIFF runs for 18 days with an extensive and prestigious program of contemporary world cinema, Australian film, red-carpet moments, live performances and unique MIFF experiences attracting audiences of more than 150,000.
The MIFF Events Coordinator role (read full position description) is a key role within the Operations team and is responsible for all elements of event coordination including the planning and execution of allocated MIFF events such as major galas, award presentations, Bright Horizon premieres, MIFF Premiere Fund premieres and other events. This is a high-energy and detail-focused role with responsibility for ensuring memorable, unique experiences for festival stakeholders, audiences, talent and guests to the highest standard, within budget, over the 18-day festival period.
The two roles will work in collaboration to fulfil the duties outlined in this position description and report directly to the Events Manager, contributing to seamless planning and execution across all MIFF events. The roles may be required to delegate tasks to the Events Intern as directed by the Events Manager.

The MIFF Operations Coordinator role (read full position description) is a key support role within the Operations team and is responsible for providing administrative support during the pre-production period and on-the-ground support throughout the festival delivery period to the Operations Manager and other key Operations team members. The Operations Coordinator will contribute to the seamless planning and execution of all operational components across MIFF venues, Front of House, Volunteers, Technical, Access and Events teams.

MIFF is currently recruiting casual Box Office staff for the 73rd Melbourne International Film Festival, taking place on 7–24 August 2025. Based in the Melbourne CBD, MIFF runs for 18 days with an extensive and prestigious program of contemporary world cinema, Australian film, red-carpet moments, live performances and unique MIFF experiences.
We are looking for people who will provide a high level of customer service, are passionate about film and have an ability to work efficiently both on their own and as part of a team. Excellent computer skills are essential.
There are roles commencing on Thursday 10 July and Monday 4 August. Successful applicants must be available to attend a training session on either of these dates. Staff will be required to work daytime, weekend and evening hours, and should have good availability over the festival period (7–24 August 2025), with full availability on weekends.
Box Office staff (read full position description) duties include, but are not limited to: providing excellent frontline customer service to MIFF customers, including troubleshooting where necessary; processing ticket sales at various festival venues, including counter sales and telephone bookings; and providing information on festival events and operations to customers.

Based in the Melbourne CBD, MIFF runs for 18 days with an extensive and prestigious program of contemporary world cinema, Australian film, red-carpet moments, live performances and unique MIFF experiences.
MIFF Front of House staff oversee the safe and enjoyable experience of audiences at all Festival venues, provide excellent customer service, and ensure that all screenings and events run efficiently to schedule.
Venue Coordinators (read full position description) have experience managing staff and/or volunteers, work autonomously and take initiative to make operational decisions across one of MIFF’s venues.
Ushers (read full position description) will be managed by a Venue Coordinator and work with limited supervision to run a cinema space while managing a team of Volunteers. Please refer to the Position Descriptions below for a detailed outline of each role and the key skills required.
