MIFF’s much-loved Critical Condition program returns with an exclusive MIFF Member screening of visionary German auteur Werner Schroeter’s Deux (2002) – a ravishing, rarely seen masterpiece of high-camp surrealism starring Isabelle Huppert in a daring dual performance.
In this double dose of cinema’s reigning diva, La Huppert plays identical twins separated at birth who suddenly become aware of each other – an existential showdown that leads to one of the strangest and most haunting climaxes you’ll ever see. Electrified by an operatic performance from his star and muse, Schroeter creates a hallucinatory experience bursting with all the melodrama, intensity and passion that made him one of the New German Cinema’s greatest artists.
Presented by MIFF Critics Campus Producer and Critical Condition programmer Luke Goodsell.
Bookings available from Wednesday 1 April, 7pm.
