Gérard Depardieu heads up a consummate laugh-fest as a retiree on the road trip of his life.

Offbeat French directing duo Benoît Delépine and Gustave de Kervern generated loads of laughs last MIFF with Louise-Michel. Here they steer Depardieu on an equally amusing - and even more bizarre - ride through a retiree's coming-of-age.

Depardieu plays Serge - nicknamed ‘Mammuth' by his friends - a slaughterhouse worker who has thrown in the towel, but needs some paperwork from old employers in order to claim his pension. Serge's exasperated wife (Yolande Moreau) sends him off on his old 70s Mammut motorcycle to revisit his past employers - an oddball journey that sees Serge joined by the ghost of his first love (Isabelle Adjani), and has him find both youthful hijinks and an awakening of sorts on the road.

Packed with Francophone stars, Mammuth is absurd, impolite and an unexpectedly poetic road trip.
