Widely regarded Taiwanese documentarian Huang Hsin-yao expands upon his acclaimed short for this audacious first feature, which takes a satirical, often hilariously cheeky stab at class differences in his homeland.

Huang Hsin-yao’s much anticipated feature debut follows the comical exploits of two buddies – Pickle, a night watchman at a statue factory; and Belly Button, a recyclables collector – as they stumble upon salacious videos that implicate Pickle’s rich boss, a wealthy factory owner up to no good.

Crafted in Huang’s unique, highly stylised black and white, this extension of his lauded 2014 short (the "plus" of the title added as a sardonic nod to corporate branding) tumbles through the worlds of the rich and the poor with dark humour, outright goofiness and witty class insight.

Winner of the NETPAC Award at the Toronto International Film Festival, and multiple awards at Taiwan’s Golden Horse Film Festival, including Best New Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Cinematography.

"Sporting an ingeniously cinematic concept that’s nimbly executed by writer-director Huang Hsin-yao and producer-DP Chung Mong-hong, this ballad of sad losers mixed with satire on parochial politics is convulsively funny yet uncompromisingly bleak, bridging art with entertainment." – Variety
