LAST HORROR MOVIE, THE
Max is a witty, charming and debonair wedding photographer by day and thrill-killer with a taste for human flesh by night. Max has coerced a young video apprentice, who thinks he has the stomach for the task, into documenting his crimes. As the film progresses, the line between fiction and reality is blurred until even the audience can't be certain that they're watching from a safe distance. The Last Horror Movie recalls the impact of Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer and the blackly comic, but disturbing, Man Bites Dog.
'From the moment the genial, refined serial killer Max peers into the lens of his camcorder and gazes directly into your eyes, you begin to gain a sense of the nihilistic and amoral impulses that drive him. It is from his philosophical musings that the film comes into its own as it overtly asks the viewer to question not only Max's motives to kill but also their own in watching such a movie. Many of the murders in the film are graphic and visceral, and the atmosphere of the film makes the experience quite unnerving.' -Film Asylum
