MISTER V.

Mister V. France

Luigi, a horse trainer in provincial France, is in grave danger. With none of his fold performing up to par, and in debt to an unscrupulous Belgian breeder, he embarks on a desperate plan. He buys a horse, Mister V., planning an 'accident' to befall the beast in order to claim the insurance money. Both Luigi's wife, Cecile, and his brother, Lucas, are perplexed at the trainer's decision, fearing that Luigi's judgement will be his undoing. Luigi soon witnesses the horse's awesome potential as a world-class jumper. Unstable and volatile, often violently so, Mister V. is unwilling to adhere to his strict training regime. With the Belgian breathing down Luigi's neck for his cut of the scam, the trainer has to make some tough decisions as the threat of disaster hangs in the air.

This powerful, expertly directed film from Emilie Deleuze is given an extraordinarily tense atmosphere whenever Mister V. is on screen.

'suspenseful, psychologically and philosophically subtle, bold and very beautiful in its imagery.' -London Film Festival
