IF YOU WERE ME: ANIMA VISION
Taking their cues from the umbrella theme of ‘prejudice', highly talented Korean animators have put their minds together to create If You Were Me: Anima Vision, a collection of six animated shorts. Spearheaded by Korea's National Human Rights Commission, which launched the first omnibus feature of If You Were Me in 2003 in an effort to highlight human rights issues, this follow-up is notable for its consistent quality in original design.
Featured animators include Lee Sung-gang with the elegiac Bicycle Trip (his previous work My Beautiful Girl, Mari won the top prize at the Annecy International Animation Festival and screened at MIFF in 2002) and Park Jae-dong with Be a Human Being, his Orwellian attack on the education system, which equates secondary education to a process of turning animals into people.
