ENRIQUE MORENTE: ALHAMBRA DAYDREAMS

Morente sueños la alhambra

Director José Sánches-Montes / 2006 / Spain

Enrique Morente, one of the world's greatest living flamenco artists, takes us on a musical tour of Spain's finest monument - Granada's Alhambra palace - in a vibrant tribute to Spain's Andalucian culture, spanning music, dance and architecture.

The film is structured around Morente's dream project: performing at Alhambra with a select group of fellow artists, an intimate concert in a magnificent setting. The spectacular music showcased in Alhambra Daydreams was mostly written specifically for the project and ranges from traditional cante jondo flamenco and jazz-influenced flamenco to contemporary rock. An impressive range of artists join Morente in his Alhambra project, including his talented daughter, Estrella. Modern dance pieces from Israel Galvan and Blanca Li provide a visual accompaniment to the mesmerising music.

Seducing both the ear and the eye, Alhambra Daydreams is a unique confluence of a multitude of talents, come together in the romantic heart of Spain.
