TEETH

Director Mitchell Lichtenstein / 2006 / USA

“Independent filmmaking is at its most exceptional when it defies categorization, and Teeth is jaw-droppingly undefinable.” - Sundance Film Festival High school student Dawn works hard at suppressing her budding sexuality by being the local chastity group's most active participant. A stranger to her own body, innocent Dawn soon discovers she is a living example of the vagina dentata myth and so begins her turmoil at coming to terms with her anatomical uniqueness. Occasional teen comedy, sometimes horror, laced with sex… Teeth has been universally commended for its charged performance by lead actress Jess Weixler. Weixler also won the Special Jury Prize at this year's Sundance Film Festival. In his feature debut, filmmaker Mitchell Lichtenstein was nominated for Sundance's Grand Jury Prize. “A bit of a female revenge fantasy.” - Mitchell Lichtenstein
