“Enigmatic, playful like some sensual and modern Mankiewicz movie, beautifully directed, fragile… It distillates trouble in a very subtle way.” - Laurent Jacob at Cannes Film FestivalA dying director sends for a young man to visit him in a meditation retreat to perform scenes from a story of his life. The young man has been given a tape of instructions: He must visit different rooms over the weekend, encountering five actresses who portray key women in the director's life. As the scenes unfold, he must also decide whether the performance has gone too far. In his feature debut, MIFF Accelerator alumnus Ben Hackworth serves up an Alice in Wonderland-like tale (with a male Alice) loosely drawing inspiration from theatre impresario Richard Wherrett as the mysterious director.
