SAVAGE GRACE
les meduses
Director Tom Kalin will be a guest of the festival and will be introducing the first screening of Savage Grace
“I like to joke that I'm Norma Desmond in my castle with my monkey, and this is my comeback.” - filmmaker Tom Kalin
Returning to the unbelievable events of true crime with his first feature since 1991's Swoon, Tom Kalin picks over the bones of a society murder that had the world talking on both sides of the Atlantic. Unapologetic social climber Barbara Daly (Julianne Moore) marries Brooks Baekeland (Clive Owen), heir to the Bakelite plastics fortune. In a posh London apartment in 1972, she is murdered by the hand of her own son (Eddie Redmayne), a homosexual who appears pushed to breaking point by his mother's unorthodox attempts to ‘cure' him of his ills.
“It's the most provocative film in Cannes - Sicko withstanding.” - Village Voice
