TIME TO DIE

Director Dorota Kedzierzawska / 2007 / Poland

“Time to die? Are you crazy?”

Starring the inimitable 91-year-old Danuta Szaflarska, Time To Die is a comical rendering of the everyday routines of an elderly woman as she winds down the days of her life, surrounded by her treasured possessions and her beloved dog, Phila.
Feisty, argumentative and full of smarts, Aniela whiles away her time by spying on the neighbours and offering querulous musings to Phila. Meanwhile Aneiela's feckless son makes plans to sell Aniela's house out from under her.
Captured in extraordinary black and white by multi-talented Arthur Reinhart.
“The director rejects a mournful tone - Time to Die is filled with a joy for life and acceptance of all it has in store.” - Kino Polish Cinema
