NOODLE

Director Ayelet Menahemi / 2007 / Israel

“Kolya locates a spiritual cousin in feel-good crowd-pleaser Noodle.” - Variety

A twice war-widowed flight attendant in her late 30s, Miri enjoys the life of a jetsetter but ultimately returns home to an empty nest. When her housekeeper is deported as an illegal immigrant, Miri finds herself the unofficial guardian of a six-year old Chinese boy (the adorable Baoqi Chen) who only speaks a smattering of Hebrew despite possessing Israeli citizenship.
A life-affirming adventure, in equal parts funny and poignant, Noodle was nominated for multiple honours at the 2007 Award of the Israeli Academy, and selected as this year's opening film for London's inaugural Israeli Film Festival.
