GUITAR, THE

Director Amy Redford / 2008 / USA

“There is no tomorrow, all my tomorrows are yesterday.”

Melody (Saffron Burrows) has been living an anaemic existence for a long time. With a thankless job and an equally thankless relationship, she’s closing in on her thirties when everything comes crashing down. Left by her boyfriend, fired from her job and diagnosed with cancer, Melody comes face to face with her shell of a life.

With only months to live, she realises she can do what she wants – which means renting an expensive apartment, filling it with decadent furniture, having meaningless flings and fulfilling her childhood dream of owning a red ‘63 Fender Stratocaster. With death just around the corner, Melody is finally learning to live.

The Guitar is the directorial debut from actor Amy Redford, daughter of actor Robert Redford.
